When you're driving on icy roads, it can be hard to stay in control. If you find yourself going into a skid, don't panic! Correcting a slide is easier than many people think. Let's view the steps to take if your car starts sliding while driving on ice.

1. Take your foot off the gas pedal

When you're driving on ice, it's important to not apply too much acceleration or brake at the wrong time. When your car starts to skid, first take your foot off of the gas pedal. Applying more pressure can actually cause you to lose control even more! If you've already taken your foot off the gas pedal and still can't stop from skidding, read ahead.

2. Steer in the direction you want to go

As you're driving on ice, it's important to constantly be aware of where your wheels are pointing. If you know which way they're turned, you'll know what direction to turn your steering wheel towards.
